Your trip data stays under your control.

At a glance

• Most trip data, checklists, settings, schedules, and motion calibration stay on your device.
• Live sharing is optional. We only send trip data to our service after you deliberately create a share link.
• Anyone with a live-share link can see the information shown by that link. Share it only with people you trust.
• We do not sell your personal information or use your trip history or precise location to target ads.

Information the app uses on your device

Tripminder processes the following information locally to provide its features:

• Location and speed. Used for GPS trip detection, trip timing, routes, and end-of-trip reminders. If you allow background location, this can continue while the app is not open so automatic detection can work.
• Motion-sensor readings. Motion Mode uses your device's motion sensors for its on-device calibration and trip start/end detection. Raw readings are processed in memory; the app keeps only your selected calibration settings and any trip summaries you choose to retain.
• Trip and checklist information. This can include trip names, times, routes, notes, ratings, travel items, and reminder settings.
• Optional Bluetooth item information. If you pair a compatible Bluetooth tag, the app stores the pairing locally and checks whether it is nearby at trip end.
• Scheduled-trip and destination information. Scheduled trips and the destinations you save are kept on your device.

Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app, subject to the app's own cleanup of unfinished paused trips.

Live Trip Sharing

Live Trip Sharing is off by default. It starts only after you choose Share Trip Live and create a link. While it is active, our service receives and stores the information needed to operate that link, including:

• your trip's live location, speed, route, and timestamps;
• the trip label, if you provide one;
• optional driving-behaviour summaries, such as a driving score, driver/passenger classification, and marked harsh-braking or acceleration events; and
• if you deliberately add a shared trip-journal entry, its photo, caption, capture time, and available location.

A share link is not protected by a viewer account: anyone who has the link can view the shared information. You can end sharing in the app at any time. A link also expires no later than 24 hours after it is created.

Tripminder automatically deletes the live-share record, including its location, route, driving summaries, and journal metadata, from our server within 7 days after the share ends or expires. The optional journal photo itself is uploaded to Cloudinary, our image-hosting provider. It is governed by Cloudinary's retention practices and may remain there after the Tripminder server record is removed; contact us if you want us to request its deletion.

Services that receive data

We use the following services only for the stated purpose:

• Tripminder sharing service and hosting providers: operate the optional share links and retain the limited share data described above.
• Cloudinary: hosts an optional photo you add to a shared trip journal. The photo is never uploaded merely because you start a trip or view a map.
• OpenStreetMap and Nominatim: provide map tiles and, when you use address search, destination search. These providers may receive your IP address, the map area requested, or the search text you submit.
• Google AdMob: displays advertising in the ad-supported version. Google may process device identifiers, IP address, device information, and ad interactions for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention under Google's Privacy Policy. Tripminder does not provide your trip history or precise location to AdMob for advertising.
• Google Play: processes in-app purchases and subscriptions. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

Permissions

The app may request the permissions below when you use the related feature:

• Precise or approximate location, including background location: automatic GPS detection, routes, and live sharing you turn on.
• Motion sensors: Motion Mode calibration and motion-based trip detection. Reading these built-in sensors does not require a separate Android runtime permission.
• Notifications, vibration, alarms, and background operation: timely trip and luggage reminders.
• Bluetooth: optional pairing and proximity checks for an item tag.
• Internet: maps, address search, ads, purchases, and optional live sharing.

You can change permissions in Android Settings. Turning off a permission can prevent the related feature from working.

Your choices and deletion requests

• Do not create a share link if you do not want location shared from a trip.
• End a live share at any time from the app.
• Delete local trips and related data in the app, or uninstall the app to remove its locally stored data.
• Reset or limit your advertising identifier using your device settings where available.

Tripminder does not require a user account. For questions or a request about server-side share data or a Cloudinary journal photo, email privacy@tripminderapp.online and include the share link or enough details for us to identify the trip safely.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information handled by our service. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours in order to operate their services.

Children

Tripminder is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app or our data practices change. The current version will always be available at this page, with its updated date.
